The Door County Pledge is at the heart of the Care for Door County movement, inviting residents and the nearly 2.5 million annual visitors to commit to responsible exploration and stewardship. It consists of six affirmations encouraging respectful, low-impact travel.
The Door County Pledge includes a video highlighting the beauty and uniqueness of the destination showcasing the importance of preservation and treading lightly. This pledge not only encourages sustainable travel practices like using designated paths, avoiding disturbance of wildlife, and safeguarding water quality, but also strengthens the bond between visitors, residents, and the region’s cultural identity.
Since launching, over 6,600 people have signed the pledge, signaling a growing commitment to responsible tourism in Door County. The initiative provides toolkit resources, volunteer opportunities, Leave No Trace guidelines, and partnerships aiming to foster long-term environmental and community sustainability.
